Favorite Love Stories: Fashion Nova’s Social Media Team

Happy Valentine’s Day NovaBabes! If you’re all boo’d up for this particular holiday, good for you. If not, the Social Media team has got you covered with an impressive list of movies to watch with your cat or with your favorite bottle of wine.

Fabi: Titanic

Leonardo DiCaprio and Celine Dion, enough said!  But, I love everything about that movie. The time period, the costume design, the age-old story of two star-crossed lovers. And in case you missed it before, Leonardo DiCaprio is bae. Very much bae.

Ashley, Stephanie & Nicole: The Notebook

Cause we’re just cheesy like that!

Dominique: Walk The Line

Name a duo more iconic than Johnny Cash & June Carter…I’ll Wait!

Kat: The Other Sister

Love is a universal language! This movie proves that there is somebody for everybody. They were vulnerable, shameless and most importantly honest. That my friends is called true love.

Anne Marie: W.E.

It depicted what love truly is within a relationship.

Kim: Love & Other Drugs

This is the epitome of “In sickness and in health” and they weren’t even married! Flaws and all they still found love.

Cali: The Proposal

I love this movie because the love was where they least expected it. Literally right in front of them.

Claudia: How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days

I mean… C’MON, Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. Need I say more?! They always make magic in movies together. Okay, I’ll stop; but seriously, not only do I love the story line.  This really is me and my relationship right now.

Alyssa B: Odd Thomas

If full fledged romance is not your thing then Odd Thomas may be the V Day flick for you. Odd, played by the late Anton Yelchin defends his small town from unseen forces with a cocktail of special abilities and his fearless soul mate. This romance/thriller is a gripping tale that will unapologetically take you across the emotional spectrum.

Alyssa I: P.S. I Love You

I love the movie because it shows how much he (Gerard Butler) really loved his wife. He knew he was dying and that his wife would be lonely. Planning letters and gifts a year ahead of time is the most selfless thing ever. If that’s not true love I don’t know what is.

Christian: Just Wright

She lands her dream job and fell in love with a basketball player she thought she’ll never have a chance with. He ended up falling in love with the woman she was. I just love the way the movie shows that you can literally end up with the person that’s perfect for you. Never give up on what your heart wants. You are worth being with the person your heart skips a beat for. ❤

Step Into My Closet: Dusters, Coats & Blazers

EVERY buy is an investment towards your wardrobe. Before I bring a staple piece into the fitting room, I have to think of how versatile it will be. The most important pieces to my wardrobe would have to be my coats and shoes. These are the most visible parts of your outfit, so they have to make a major statement NovaBabe!

I love the simplicity of my staple pieces. A duster is needed in every woman’s closet. It gives off so much sophistication and really makes you feel like a boss. Not to mention, it’s the perfect jacket to complete the look for any and all occasions. You can rock your duster with a sheer top, flared jeans and booties by day and switch it up with a flirty dress by night.

Another must-have in my closet is a distressed denim jacket. This jacket is my “all else fails, throw this jacket on”  kind of piece. It goes with almost anything! You can get trendy with it too.  Go with the  denim on denim look or style it with an over-sized tee!

Cape Blazers

Anyone who knows me is aware that  I’m obsessed with trends that are timeless. With that being said, I introduce to you cape blazers. My favorite way to wear this blazer is like a suit. It’s also the perfect layering piece NovaBabe!

I hope you enjoy my choice of style as I go through my many phases of trends! What are your closet favorites?

Brag About It: Must Have Denim

Embroidery Jeans

Designers like Alexander McQueen, Gucci and Valentino, have hit the run way with to-die for embellished denim. Expect to see this look as we prepare to jump into spring. Embroidery denim certainly adds a pop of color to your look! The patch work on jeans are also the perfect touch for a vintage feel. You can rock this trendy look at just $30 bucks!

Lace Up Jeans

You may have spotted this trend on Khole Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. The sexy laces that come with these jeans both accessorize and accentuate your legs making them appear longer and leaner.

Distressed Boyfriend Jeans

Over-sized boyfriend jeans will never go out of style! You can dress these jeans up or down with sneakers or heels. Layering pieces can also elevate your look . Pair these jeans with fishnet leggings to give it more of a street style look.

3 Ways To Rock Velvet This Winter

As we settle into the winter season, we can’t help but wonder which trends will keep us both warm and stylish. Let’s just say, velvet has reached new levels. Gone are the days of obnoxious velvet detail on your grandparents’ couch.  I mean the options are endless! You can go from luxurious to vintage, by simply adding a choker or rocking cute booties. You can never go wrong with velvet because it looks great in any color. I must say, this ultra chic fabric is the ‘it’ trend this winter.

Dark Velvet

Velvet looks best in darker colors. So don’t hesitate to dabble in all shades of blue, grey and burgundy. Make it sexy and flaunt your inner velvety diva.

Accessorizing is a must. Especially if you want to ease your way into the velvet trend. Throwing on a choker or a corset belt will certainly complete your look!

LISTEN UP: ‘4 Your Eyez Only’

A guy who goes platinum with no features is a guy you expect to take you lyrically higher each time his beat drops. J. Cole dropped 4 Your Eyez Only in early December, and it has already landed on numerous musical charts.

J. ColeThe storyline of the album was intimate yet raw, which was called for since the album was indirectly dedicated to his friend’s daughter. It was a gateway of untold stories that may have answered pending questions in the past. As you listen to the album from start to finish you’ll understand the imagery of the father-daughter relationship that was faulted to a dark lifestyle on the streets.

The actual single, 4 Your Eyes Only truly showed remorse and seeked forgiveness. It becomes completely clear that his friend knew his time was coming to an end. With his blessing,  J. Cole moved forward by telling his story through music to his daughter.
